Hello, fellow Bluestorms fans! Here’s the latest scoop:As many of you know, The Cherry Bluestorms’ first full band performance since last summer took place at the Make Music Pasadena festival on June 18. Marc Stuart filled in for drummer Kellii Scott, who has been on tour in Europe. Thanks, Marc! In addition to the usual guitar, bass, drums and vocals line-up, The Bluestorms were joined by Arlan Schierbaum on Hammond organ and Wurlitzer electric piano. You may recognize the name from a guest appearance on Transit of Venus, playing Clavioline on “Fear of Gravity”.  Arlan plays Hammond organ on three tracks on the soon to be released Bad Penny Opera as well. Since the new album features a lot more keyboard work than TOV, Arlan’s presence was especially welcome. The crowd at MMP appeared to endorse the sentiment, giving rousing and enthusiastic cheers, most notably in response to Bad Penny Overture, Daisy Chain and Start Again. The good news for fans is that the promoters of the festival were well-chuffed and made it known that they will be recommending the band for other events.Reuben Vigil of San Diego’s Big Shot Reub and The Reloaders was present for the festivities. He no sooner got home than he learned that his band’s debut album, Roundhouse Blues, produced by The Bluestorms’ Glen Laughlin, made the nominee list for the 2011 San Diego Music Awards “Best Blues Album” Category. Congratulations, Reub and Glen!!The Bluestorms are scheduled to play July 30 for International Pop Overthrow at Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles. We hope to see you there!!
