March 2019 News

Greetings to Bluestorms supporters new and not-so-new! Those of you who have been following our travails and tribulations since the beginning of the year know that our extracurricular activities have kept us busy. Aside from getting situated in our new studio spaces and preparing a new “single edit” version of “Heel to Toe”, we are in the process of working in a new drummer. Glen also recently recorded guitar for his former band The Dickies. The track is intended for what is likely to be the final Dickies album. We’re eagerly looking forward to spending time recording the next Cherry Bluestorms album and scheduling some local shows. In the meantime…

Come on out and enjoy a beautiful afternoon of local art and great music! This will be our fourth year performing on the art walk!
This year’s Blindspot lineup is as follows:
3PM – Alvino & The Dwells
4PM – The Cherry Bluestorms
5PM – Hiroshima Mockingbirds
6PM – Manual Scan

A TRIBUTE TO JOHN WICKS
As many of you know, John Wicks of The Records—responsible for the iconic 1979 powerpop hit “Starry Eyes”— recently succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Last night, February 28th, a group of John’s friends and peers came together at Bogie’s in Westlake Village to celebrate his birthday and pay tribute to his musical legacy. We were honored to be invited to perform the song “Liverpool 6512” with The Records. It was a magical evening of music that saw the stage graced by Peter Asher, Al Stewart, Vicki & Debbi Peterson of The Bangles, Jude Cole, Marc Mann and others. There was a lot of love in the room. We all miss you, John, and know you were with us in spirit! See our Instagram page for photos and video from the event.

NEW MONTHLY FEATURE!!
Each month we will be reviewing YOUR submissions of ORIGINAL Bluestorms-inspired artwork or photographs. The winning entry, submitted to thecherrybluestormsmusic@gmail.com, will earn a Cherry Bluestorms T-shirt, subject to availability. The winning artwork will be featured in our monthly newsletter and also be proudly displayed on our various social media platforms. Submissions must be received by the 25th day of the month. No one person can win two months in a row. Otherwise, the only rule is, “no rules”! It would be likely that we would give your line drawing of your cat a miss, but don’t let that discourage you!

We have continued to receive really positive feedback for “Whirligig!” and appreciate everyone who has continued to make it a success. Moving forward… Stay tuned! We have a lot of music that we are working to make available to you over this year. We think you may be pleasantly surprised at some of the musical territories we are visiting. Until next month….
