As February is the month of love, we want to kick off this month’s news report by wishing you all a very happy Valentine’s Day. Enjoy this rare, acoustic performance of an aptly-titled unreleased Glen song (featuring guest background vocals by his valentine).
NO FOOLING!
We are excited to share some news that is a first in many ways. It is not just our first show of 2018, and our first show since June, but it is our first show with our new rhythm section, our first time opening up our studio as a performance space, and—most importantly—your first opportunity to hear WHIRLIGIG! in its entirety! Come on out to Roundhouse Recording in Studio City, CA on Sunday, April 1st for a “house concert” style performance by the new and improved Bluestorms. We will be performing our new album from start to finish, and if you stick around, you just might get to hear a few of your favorites as a bonus! Admission is $20 per person and includes lunch. Food (including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options) will be served starting at 1 PM, and the performance begins at 2 PM. Purchase your admission here on our home page. NAMM 2018
Glen, Deborah, and our trusty behind-the-scenes girl Courtney were fortunate enough to attend the 2018 NAMM Show at the Anaheim Convention Center in late January as guests of Laney Amplification. It was Laney who provided the amps for our Music In The Hall performance in England last year, and it was great to reconnect. We had a blast looking at the new guitars, microphones, amps, and other gear from some of our favorite companies. A YOUTUBE CALL TO ACTION!
As you may or may not know, YouTube has changed their YouTube Partner Program, making it more difficult for independent artists to make money from their video content. The new eligibility requirements—which go into effect on February 20—require artists to have a minimum of 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time accumulated over the preceding twelve months. In order to remain part of the YouTube Partner Program, we need a little help. Consider this a call to action! If you have not subscribed to our YouTube channel, we would appreciate you taking the time to do so. While you’re on our page, check out some of our videos that you haven’t seen before, or give your favorites another watch or two (or three or four). Share with your friends! Every follow and view counts and we appreciate the support!
MUSIC IN THE HALL COMPILATION
We were fortunate enough to be asked to contribute a track to the “Music In The Hall Volume Two” compilation CD, featuring artists who performed in 2017 for the concert series at St. George’s Hall in Bewdley. The CD, containing our song “Here”, can be purchased at the St. George’s Hall café for £10. Proceeds from the sales benefit the Bewdley Youth Festival—an organization that provides opportunities, guidance, and performance experience for young musicians in Bewdley and the Wyre Forest District.
