AUGUST 2019 NEWS

Hello again to all Friends of The Cherry Bluestorms!  As always, we are in the midst of several projects, feverously working away!  Amongst the irons in the fire are a full-length interview conducted by the charming and erudite Steven Davies-Morris.  More on that later.  We are also in the last stages of recording Deborah’s “Geeology” album.  We are working on Wordstorms, the complete collection of lyrics to be made available in book form.  We have also been working on material for the next Cherry Bluestorms album.  I think it is becoming clear that it will once again be an album notably different from the prior three albums, while retaining The Bluestorms’ overall aesthetic.  Meanwhile, Glen has continued to entertain clients at Roundhouse Recording, notably the legendary bassist, Phil Chen.  Phil’s credits are too numerous to name, but amongst the very impressive albums he played on are Jeff Beck’s “Blow by Blow”, produced by George Martin and widely considered to be one of the most important jazz-fusion albums and Donovan’s “Cosmic Wheels”.  Many of you will have heard Phil’s work on some of Rod Stewart’s biggest hits.  It was an honor and a pleasure to host this musical giant.  We have also been having a great time playing with new members Gow Folkerth on drums and Jeffrey Howell on keyboards.  We are more excited than ever to tread the boards with these excellent folks!  Speaking of which…

As a reminder, The Cherry Bluestorms will be returning to the stage at Skinny’s Lounge in just a few days on Sunday, August 4 as part of the annual IPO LA festival. We hit the stage at 3:30 PM. This event is 21+ and the cover is $10 at the door.  Full lineup and additional information here.

NAME THAT TUNE!
You guessed it… it’s contest time!  Out of our recorded output, there has been one instrumental track.  The first three people to correctly name that tune will win a limited edition “Whirligig!” t-shirt, subject to availability.  Please send an email to thecherrybluestormsmusic@gmail.com with the name of the song and your t-shirt size (Men’s or Women’s, S-XL).  We will notify the winners by email by the end of August. Thanks for playing!
